The Salt & Pepper toner (Sale & Pepe in Italian) is an additive for ready-mixed Venetian plasters, that can be added to create an enhanced visual texture, with the combination of black marble dust and river sand aggregates. It does tend to show off better on finer plasters, giving them the "Puntinato" effect, but can be used on pretty much all but the polished plasters.

We would consider that this product can be done DIY with little to no experience on this specific type of material. We would suggest checking out our videos for this product on Youtube, then practicing a little first, before doing a feature wall, perhaps on some MDF board or the wall itself.

Specifications
There are no direct guidelines on how to add salt and pepper. Just be mindful that the quantity should be weighed if adding to multiple separate buckets to ensure the intensity of the finish is the same across all buckets.
We do recommend sampling of the aggregate by purchasing the 50g amount and 1kg of the desired plaster as minimum to ensure you are happy with the intensity of the effect.
Disclaimers
Salt & pepper can be a little difficult to see on the plasters with larger grains such as Marmorino Classico. This means that larger quantities of the additive would be needed per kilo in order to make the effect stand out.
We also recommend that salt & pepper is used only on very light colours. Adding it to dark colours will make it very difficult to notice the effect of the additive.
