The Corrod system by Impera Italia provides you with a unique finish, that has been designed to create a genuine reaction that rusts the desired surface. The characteristic visual texture can be a great addition to bespoke, modern, industrial interiors or anywhere a one-of-a-kind solution is required to give life to interiors and feature elements. 

This rust effect kit It was developed with the flexibility to create distinct applications, using the different activators included. The components in this kit can be purchased separately if required, bur are all included in the main kit at a reduced price.

Specifications

Additional quantities of the activators can be purchased separately if a stronger reaction is desired.

Coverage:

  • Primer: 0.5L per 5sqm (Diluted 30%).
  • Base: 1L per 5sqm.
  • Activator C: 0.5L per 5sqm.
  • Activator R: 0.5L per 5sqm.
  • Stabilizer: 0.5L per 5sqm.

Number of coats:

  • Primer: Depends on substrate, typically 2 for optimum opacity.
  • Base: 1 coat. Please note that the thickness of the application will significantly affect the reaction that takes place with the activators.
  • Activator C: Highly subjective. 1 coat can be enough. More can be done depending on the intensity of reaction desired.
  • Activator R: Highly subjective. 1 coat can be enough. More can be done depending on the intensity of reaction desired.
  • Stabilizer: 1 coat.

Dilution:

  • Primer: 30% Water. This equates to 150ml for 0.5L of primer.
  • Base: This product is ready to be used. If a thinner coat is desired, a maximum of 10% water can be added.
  • Activator C: Ready to use.
  • Activator R: Ready to use.
  • Stabilizer: 50% with water.

Tools:

  • Primer: Mohair or short pile roller.
  • Base: Can be applied using a brush, trowel, roller or even a sponge. All these methods will create different effects.
  • Activator C: Can be applied using a brush, roller or a sponge. It can even be poured. We recommend experimenting with the product to realise beautiful effects. All these methods will give the product a unique final appearance.
  • Activator R: Can be applied using a brush, roller or a sponge. It can even be poured. We recommend experimenting with the product to realise beautiful effects. All these methods will give the product a unique final appearance.
  • Stabilizer: Brush or Roller.

Storage:

  • Primer: Between +5C and +35C for up to 2 years.
  • Base: Between +5C and +35C for up to 2 years.
  • Activator C: Between +7C and +35C for up to 2 years.
  • Activator R: Between +7C and +35C for up to 2 years.
  • Stabilizer: Between +5C and +35C for up to 2 years.

  • The Corrod System has been developed with the intention of creating an authentic rust effect. It is important to understand that due to the natural reactions caused by this product, the final appearance of the surface is highly unpredictable.
  • Although the activators of the Corrod System are designed with a specific type of reaction in mind, they can on occasion, react in a unique way that may not produce the expected effect.
  • Corrod is most suitable for those willing to experiment, with a desire to obtain a totally unique feature that cannot be replicated. For applicators, we also recommend to measure the expectations of clients. Although a naturally rusted surface will be produced upon application of the product, the client cannot have much input into the final look due to the lack of control of the overall reaction.
