Calce Natural Lime Paint

Regular price From £29.88

Calce, is a traditional, all natural lime paint that can be used on it's own, or as an additional coating on decorative plasters. Due to the rise in popularity of limewash finishes, mineral-based paints are now once again a staple in contemporary interiors, aside from being one of the oldest decorative materials used.

Calce can be used as an alternative to standard emulsion paints, and when diluted at a higher ratio, it's the perfect material for an authentic lime or colour wash.

Calce is sold exclusively uncoloured in order to enable people to create their own colours.

  • Calce does not usually need a primer before it is applied. This however can vary depending on the condition of the substrate. If a primer is desired for additional safety, Atomo can be applied before Calce.

  • 1L per 8sqm.

Number of coats:

  • 2+ coats.

Dilution:

  • Can vary highly, if you wish to achieve a 2-tone finish, we recommend diluting the first coat only around 10% and doing a much higher dilution on the second coat, of around 40%.
  • For a standard application we recommend diluting the first coat around 30% and the second coat around 15%.

Tools:

  • Large rectangular block brush for standard application.
  • For colour washes, we recommend taking a look at the various decorative sponges we have available.

  • Between +5C and +35C for up to 2 years.

Disclaimers

  • Due to the high lime content in this paint, it is essential to stir it before applying, followed by stirring it subsequently every 10 mins or so.

  • Please note that lime paints dry much lighter than they appear when wet. If you notice that your chosen colour appears darker, this likely explains why.

Are your walls freshly plastered?

If you are going to apply on a surface with high absorption such as a freshly plastered wall, the paint may not give you the desired coverage. Atomo will seal the surface, improving coverage and creating a stronger bond.

1L of Atomo can cover up to 30sqm. Please refer to your paint calculations for the coverage required.

The Tools For The Job

Here is the brush you need

For the optimal finish on this paint, we recommend using a large rectangular block brush. This will ensure the strokes are even and the effect comes off the right way.

Thinking ahead...

Is durability a concern?

Although these beautiful paints are designed to last, we all know what it's like to have animals, and little greasy hands running around. This protector can be applied after the paint, in order to give it protection against minor splashes and oils, making the paint easily wipeable, whilst only shifting the colour a very minor amount.

Bear in mind that lime paints are naturally chalky by nature. As they dry, the lime cures and chalk gradually comes to the surface. Many people like this, as it defines proper lime paint. However, if you don't fancy your clothes getting white patches every time you rub the wall, applying a protector will make the chalkiness go away!

1L of Impera Matt will cover 10sqm.
